I don’t know what you heard, but it’s a really, really good idea to have a niche on YouTube, especially if you want to make money…
On YouTube you can’t be all things to all people. Your best bet for building a bigger, more engaged audience is to stay in your lane! In a word – niching!
A lot of “creatives” on YouTube are really not into niching—they want to create about a bunch of different things. I get it. However, you NEED to be known for one thing on YouTube. But let’s say you don’t want to create content around one particular topic—there’s one more thing you can do—
You can choose a specific type of person or group of people to make videos for—this is your targeted audience.
You can create for a targeted audience like “new parents” – that way you can create videos on different topics that would be valuable to new parents—videos about food, videos about budgeting, videos about clothing…
So whether your topic is niche or your audience is niche, if you want to win at the YouTube game, pick a lane—and STAY in it!
